Ingredients

  1. Flour – 1 cup (use all-purpose, or almond flour for gluten-free options).
  2. Matcha Powder – 2 tablespoons (culinary or ceremonial grade for vibrant flavor).
  3. Sugar – 3/4 cup (white or coconut sugar for a natural option).
  4. Butter – 1/2 cup (substitute with coconut oil or vegan butter for plant-based recipes).
  5. Eggs – 2 large (flax eggs for vegan brownies).
  6. Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon for added depth of flavor.
  7. White Chocolate Chips – 1/2 cup (optional, but adds sweetness and texture).
  8. Baking Powder – 1/4 teaspoon for a slight rise.
  9. Salt – A pinch to balance the flavors.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Nuts: Chopped almonds or hazelnuts for crunch.
  • Zest: Lemon or orange zest for a citrus twist.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: For a creamy texture.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the Matcha Mixture
In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to remove clumps. Set aside for later use.
  3. Melt Butter and Combine with Sugar
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract until combined. Gradually add the butter and sugar mixture, whisking continuously to avoid cooking the eggs.
  5. Incorporate the Matcha Powder
Gently whisk the sifted matcha powder into the wet mixture until smooth and well-blended. The batter should have a vibrant green color.
  6. Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the matcha mixture, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Add Optional Ingredients
If using white chocolate chips or nuts, gently fold them into the batter for added texture and flavor.
  8. Pour and Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool and Serve
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing. For clean edges, use a sharp knife and wipe it between cuts.

Enjoy your homemade matcha brownies with your favorite tea or coffee! Would you like variations or storage tips added?
