  • Method: Baking, Air Frying, Pan-Searing
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For Basic Bacon-Wrapped Chicken:

  • Chicken Breasts (Boneless, Skinless): 4 medium-sized pieces
  • Bacon Strips: 8–10 slices (thick-cut preferred for extra crispiness)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper: 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon
  • Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon (for added moisture and flavor)

Optional Ingredients for Variations:

  • Cream Cheese (for stuffing): 4 tablespoons
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese: 1/2 cup
  • Fresh Spinach (chopped): 1/2 cup
  • Sun-Dried Tomatoes (chopped): 1/4 cup
  • Fresh Herbs (e.g., Rosemary, Thyme): 2 teaspoons

For Marinade (Optional):

  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon Juice: 1 tablespoon
  • Minced Garlic: 2 cloves
  • Honey: 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne Pepper (optional, for heat): 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the Oven or Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This step ensures the seasoning sticks and prevents excess moisture during cooking.
    • Season each piece with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. If using a marinade, combine the marinade ingredients and coat the chicken. Let it rest for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Stuff the Chicken (Optional):
    • If you’re making stuffed bacon-wrapped chicken, butterfly each chicken breast (cut a pocket into the side without cutting through).
    • Stuff with cream cheese, shredded cheddar, spinach, or your desired filling.
    • Secure the pocket with toothpicks to prevent the stuffing from spilling out.
  4. Wrap the Chicken in Bacon:
    • Lay 2–3 bacon strips flat on a cutting board, slightly overlapping.
    • Place the chicken at one end and roll it tightly, ensuring the bacon covers the entire chicken piece. Secure with toothpicks if needed.

Cooking Methods:

Oven-Baked Method:

  1. Arrange the Chicken:
    • Place the wrapped chicken on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. This allows heat to circulate and ensures even cooking.
  2. Bake:
    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  3. Broil for Crispiness:
    • Set the oven to broil and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until the bacon crisps up.

Air Fryer Method:

  1. Arrange in Basket:
    • Place the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring there’s space between each piece for proper airflow.
  2. Cook:
    • Air fry for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway. Check for doneness with a meat thermometer.

Pan-Seared and Oven-Finished Method:

  1. Sear the Chicken:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
  2. Finish in the Oven:
    • Transfer to a baking dish and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes.

Notes

Prevent Dryness: If using chicken breasts, consider marinating or stuffing them to enhance juiciness and flavor
